TV Insurance Characters – May be fun but costly to you It   seems   like   every   time   I   turn   on   the   TV   or   radio   there   is   an   insurance   company   character   urging people   to   buy   insurance   from   them.      I   find   a   lot   of   the   commercials   funny,   but   sometimes   it seems   like   they   are   leading   people   to   financial   disaster   by   selling   State   minimum   limits   and having people select coverage they do not understand. Recently,   I   went   on   line   and   had   my   personal   auto   insurance   quoted   by   some   of   the   more   popular characters   to   see   what   our   competitors   were   doing.      Unfortunately,   the   defaults   for   coverage were   for   limited   tort   and   the   limits   they   wanted   to   quote   were   low.      When   I   accepted   the   defaults the   carriers   offered,   they   did   save   me   a   little   money….   NOW .      They   just   did   not   match   my current coverage.  When I had them quote apples-to-apples, their premiums were much higher. Last   month   one   of   my   competitors   told   me   about   a   client   that   came   into   his   office   with   a   policy he   purchased   through   one   of   the   more   aggressive   TV   marketers   which   saved   him   over   $   600   a year   on   his   new   Cadillac.      When   my   colleague   reviewed   the   policy   he   noticed   that   this   individual did   not   have   collision   coverage   on   his   $   55,000   Cadillac!      His   client’s   response   was   that   he selected    comprehensive     coverage    and    that    covered    everything .        After    explaining    what comprehensive   and   collision   coverage   meant   in   insurance   terms,   my   friend   was   able   to   help   this client get the proper comprehensive and  collision coverage. A   word   of   caution   when   purchasing   insurance   coverage   from   any   source:      Please   be   sure   that you   understand   the   coverage   you   currently   have   vs.   the   quote   you   are   getting.      Remember   the   $ 600   that   the   Cadillac   owner   thought   he   was   saving   could   have   cost   him   $   55,000   if   he   had totaled his car while carrying only “comprehensive” coverage. Hurst-Weiss   Insurance   &   Investment   Services   acts   as   an   advisor   to   help   our   clients   understand coverage   and   their   insuring   options   so   they   can   make   the   proper   decisions   based   upon   their needs.      If   you   have   any   questions   or   would   like   to   review   your   coverage,   please   do   not   hesitate   to call   our   office   at   412-922-8222.      Also,   you   can   click   on   the   link   here    to   our   website   for   easy   to understand Automobile Insurance Coverage Descriptions for your reference.    Hurst-Weiss Insurance is your “One-Stop Insurance & Investment Services Firm.”
